Tow and Haul
Many boats that need transport are already loaded on a trailer. A tow vehicle will simply hook up to the hitch and tow the trailer to the destination. However for tow away jobs like this the trailer must be in road worthy condition. All the lights must work, the tires should be good, and the overall structure of the trailer should be intact.
Boat with No Trailer
For transport of a boat without a trailer you will need a carrier that has their own trailer or specialized boat hauler trailer. The cost of transport will be higher due to more equipment being used to handle the job.
Oversized Vessel Transport
For any watercraft or freight exceeding 8.5 ft width in transport configuration a oversize permit will be required by law.
For any watercraft or freight exceeding 13.6ft height in transport configuration a oversize permit will be required by law.
For any watercraft or freight exceeding 80,000 gross weight when combined with the transport trailer and peer unit ( truck) a over weight permit will be required.
Every state requires their own permits for overweight or oversize. The carrier moving your boat will be the one that has to apply for the permits from the DOT in that state.
